Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565, was written c. 1730 while in Arnstadt and was most likely written for the organ. However, this monumental work also works well on the harp with minor changes and additions. This edition stays close to Bach’s original with some doublings at the octave in the bass and some added harmonics to provide color and help facilitate the overlapping of hands. Currently (2024) on two harp competition lists, this edition provides clear pedal changes and enough fingerings for advanced harpists to efficiently learn this gorgeous masterpiece. Extensive notes about style and ornamentation are also included in this edition by Laura Sherman. This piece is also available as a PDF from Harp Column Music.
